Stephanie Sneed for District 4 School board
Stephanie grew up an only child in single-parent home after the death of her father caused by a tragic accident when she was only in the 3rd grade. Although there was some hardship that included living with
different relatives, her mother was able to become a homeowner which set both her and her mother on a path of education, service and community. Both her mother and grandmother were active volunteers at her school; with her grandmother often serving as a substitute teacher much to Stephanie’s dismay. Her mother also served as a Girl Scout leader to countless girls in their neighborhood.
This sense of community and service was passed on to Stephanie in that as a youth on her own initiative she decided that she wanted to volunteer at the local public library, where she went from shelving
books to leading young children on tours and in reading groups. As a teen she volunteered at the hospital serving on a geriatric unit as well as mother/infant. It was this service and many years of
participation in Girl Scouts that led to her receiving Girls Scouts highest honor of Girl Scout Gold award.
Stephanie’s mother and grandmother instilled the importance of not only getting an education, but excelling in education. Stephanie is a product of public school education which lead her to studies at the
University of Texas at Arlington graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, with a concentration in Environmental Science. She continued with Master’s course work in City Regional planning. She later
attended Howard University School of Law obtaining her Juris Doctor and her license to practice law.
